52. Ancestors...What have you done?
Recent discovery of my all male line, could now have uncovered quite an interesting tale.
For me, it's turned history, a little on it's head.
See, I'm a Fitzgerald (with a little "g") and my genetic research of the past 6 years, is wanting to see what is my Fitzgerald story. Where ever it lands, is where ever it lands. But my hypothesis lands that we maybe off a derivative Fitzgerald line via the Desmond's. The areas of Cork, Limerick and Kerry, are most definitely on the genetic radar.

Sir Edward Newenham b.1734 - d.1814 6th Great Grandfather Irish Politician, Staunch Protestant, A member in the Irish Volunteer Militia and became a Colonel of the "Liberty Volunteers", befriended many major world figures : George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, James Napper Tandy, Family disowned him later in life-due to his money mismangaement, He died almost as a pauper.

Grace Anna Burton b.abt 1731 - d.abt 1806 6th Great Grandmother Daughter of Dublin Lord Mayor - Sir Charles Burton. She married Sir Edward Newenham on 4th Feb 1754

Colonel William Persse b.1728 - d.1802 6th Great Grandfather He was a High Sheriff In Galway
Became instrumental to the formation of the "Roxborough Volunteers" (Militia)
Was a very good friend of George Washington. They even swapped farming/agriculture ideas
Great Grandfather to Lady Gregory (Isabella Augusta Persse)

Edward Worth Newenham b.1762 - d.1832 5th Great Grandfather Became a Magistrate of Galway during the 1790's, many times fighting off 'duels' and threats to his life
Married Elizabeth Persse in 1787 and lived around Persse Estates in Galway
Became an owner/operator of Mining lands in Tipperary, around the Killenaule / Shallee districts
Left Ireland for France around the 1820's and died in Boulogne, France.

Henry Hood Newenham b. 1805 - d. 1895 4th Great Grandfather Grandson of Sir Edward / Grace Anna. Son of Edward Worth Newenham and Elizabeth Persse. Born in Dublin, Ireland and died in Melbourne, Australia. He married his 1st cousin - Annie Frances Persse, in the Athenry district in 1837 and arrived in Australia in 1856.

Frederick John Hasler b. 1838 - d. 1920 3rd Great Grandfather Born in Galway City, Galway Ireland. Migrated to Australia in 1869. Married Eliza Persse Newenham in 1872. Became a photographer for his whole life, both in Ireland and Australia.

Richard Charles MacNevin b. 1814 - d. 1864 4th Great Grandfather Believe to be born in Gort, Co. Galway, became a solicitor like his family tradition was. He was the brother of Thomas MacNevin Esq - writer/contibutor to "The Nation" paper. This family had very strong ties to Daniel O'Connell "The Great Emancipator". It is believed that Richard's father (Daniel MacNevin) was, Daniel O'Connell's own personal solicitor.

Thomas Edwin MacNevin b. 1844 - d. 1907 3rd Great Grandfather Born Dublin, Ireland. Became a Solicitor and migrated to Australia in 1864/1865 after his Father's death. He married Edith Ashworth Snape in Brisbane. They later settled in Sydney, where Thomas became a person of many high roles within the Australian Legal System. Became a Stipendiary Police Magistrate for many years in Paramatta and also was a Coroner. Wrote a book for future people on how to become a Coroner and many other roles.
